Becki in Breckenridge

Let's Celebrate ~ Becki's Birthday!

Our Hospitality Services Manager in Breckenridge, Becki, recently celebrated her birthday! After having a low-key birthday last year, this year she went bigger with a trip to Blackhawk, CO, a local casino town. Fortunately, even if she wins big, Becki assures us she’s not quitting (whew!).

If the cards fall right, her visit to Blackhawk could very well turn into the most amazing vacation ever; however, Becki’s favorite vacation memories come from spending the summers of her youth at West Point Lake on the border of Georgia and Alabama. She recalls playing in the mud and on a raft in the water, and even taking 10-mile hikes and riding motor scooters. But it’s things like the activities her Memaw used to plan for the kids that really make Becki appreciate that “old musty lake house” more and more as time goes on.

When she’s dreaming of the perfect vacation, Becki likes to focus on the Emigrant Wilderness area in California near Yosemite. Last year, she went on a horseback camping trip there, but she wants to do it again with her family and her moose-poop-loving dog Riddick. What Becki loves about the area is its remoteness. On her previous trip, they loaded two horses with food and supplies and wandered 15 miles past any other trails to a beautiful lake they had all to themselves. With camping, fishing, climbing, hiking, and hot springs all nearby, what’s not to love?!?! And since this is a dream vacation, Becki would want her favorite band to come along as well. Depending on the vibe, that would mean either Atmosphere or Slightly Stoopid would be making the trip.

Becki doesn’t have to travel to enjoy her surroundings. She loves Breckenridge and says it has everything you need, except humidity, which isn’t a bad thing! She’s lived in Georgia, Tennessee, and even Hawaii, but says Breckenridge is just different. She says there’s a feel to the town that people search for, but that you just can't find everywhere. There’s always something fun going on in town, but it is still a community filled with people that love to be there.

On your next trip to Breck, Becki recommends grabbing some skis and hitting the mountain (duh). Personally, she loves to explore the T-bar and Peak 9 areas. If you need a break from the slopes, she also recommends dog sledding with Good Times Adventures. If you’re a Call of the Wild fan like her, you’ll love it!

Happy birthday, Becki! Hope it was a great one!

Sandra in 30A

Let's Celebrate ~ Sandra's InvitedHome Anniversary!

Down in Florida, our Housekeeping Supervisor, Sandra, is celebrating her 1-year anniversary this month!

Sandra started her adventure with InvitedHome as a home inspector. However, thanks to a wide range of factors like her background with computers, her slightly OCD organizational skills, and the rapid growth of our 30A destination (not to mention her hard work!), Sandra has grown into her current role.

In her first year, Sandra has seen our 30A team change quite a bit, but nonetheless, her favorite part about her job is the people she works with - especially the terrific Inspectors on her team. She really believes we have an amazing team in place in Florida. She says everyone communicates well, asks for help, and supports each other all the time. For those reasons, it’s no surprise to her the team has formed some great friendships in and out of work.

Sandra also loves that her team, in Florida and across the country, go out of their way to support more than just each other. During Hurricane Harvey last year, we had a guest and his family staying with us on 30A. They could not go back home after the storm and had to extend their stay with us. According to Sandra, our whole team - management, housekeeping, etc - worked hard to accommodate the guests and extend their stay during a busy season. We even offered gift certificates for the grocery stores and helped them move all of their items from one place to another. With an example like that fresh in her mind, it’s no wonder “treat people like humans” is the InvitedHome Core Value that resonates most with Sandra.

Working with great people is wonderful, but doing so at one of the most beautiful beaches in the world is even better! As an island girl herself, Sandra really immerses herself in the beach culture. She loves kayaking, paddle boarding, and even takes responsibility for cleaning up the beaches. With her kids in tow, she’ll go out early in the morning or later in the evening to remove the trash and smooth out the sand for the local sea turtles.

With such a love for the beach, it might be somewhat surprising that Sandra’s favorite home isn’t one of our “beachier” properties. Instead, she really loves Chez Fleur. But with French blood running through her veins, it’s really not much of a surprise at all. She says the decor in the home is authentic and very similar to the family homes she grew up in.

Thanks for everything, Sandra! We couldn’t create a home away from home without you!
