The Breckenridge International Snow Sculpture Championships
Artists from around the globe will descend on Breckenridge to create an outdoor art exhibit at the International Snow Sculpture Championships.
Breckenridge is loaded with fun activities and events for all ages, and January is no exception. The International Snow Sculpture Championships, now in its 27th year, will bring teams of sculptors from around the world to carve 12-foot, 20-ton snow monoliths into mind-blowing sculptures. Past sculptures ranged from buildings, people and animals, to depictions of historical and mythical events. Previous teams have come from far-flung places like Mongolia and Lithuania, as well as snow-deprived countries like Mexico, to use their brilliant, visionary ideas and sculpting skills to convert giant, cold, white cubes into works of art. For 65 hours straight, the teams use only hand tools to chip, saw and shape the snow with an astounding level of detail and creativity. So dress warm and get your hot chocolate to go. This event is not to be missed.
