Welcome to your own personal museum, where art and architecture convene in this contemporary 3-bedroom, 3.5 bath, multi-level showstopper. Perched high on a mesa with dramatic ocean and island views, this home is the epitome of modern design, bursting with colorful, original art and unique sculptures throughout the entire home.

From the moment you enter the awe-inspiring location, we encourage you to take your time as you stroll through all this place has to offer. First, your family will be instantly greeted by a massive circular stairway that leads to all three levels of this hillside house and is capped off by beautiful domed skylight. Yes, things are already looking up. Just a few steps down from the landing is the master bedroom, which features a king bed, en-suite bath with Jacuzzi tub, an adjoining dressing room, an exercise room and even its own private wine tasting room. We think you’ll raise a glass (or two) to that feature.

But there’s plenty more where that came from. The main level features the living room with wood-burning fireplace, cooks’ kitchen and the main dining room. You’ll feel the instant warmth of wall-to-wall doors that fill the home with sunlight and lead out to the patio where you will be treated to wide-open ocean views. Green thumbs are welcome in the private English garden filled with lavender, roses, and plenty of lemon, grapefruit, lime, avocado and other delectable fruit trees. You determine when they’re just ripe for the picking.

On the lower level, you will find the guest suite with en-suite bath, a guestroom/office with a queen sleeper sofa, a full bathroom and the laundry room (which conveniently has a laundry chute from upstairs).

More of an outdoor person? Enjoy ample seating while you BBQ or relax by the spa. Dawn and dusk are both equally magnificent at this location. Enjoy your morning coffee on the patio or wind the day down with a glass of vino on the canopy swing while watching one of Santa Barbara’s legendary sunsets. However you choose to spend your days, we think that by the end of each one, you’ll appreciate this little slice of heaven even more.

We thoroughly enjoyed our month long stay at Vista Del Oceano! This home has the most outstanding ocean views! Cruise ships coming in weekly dock right in view from any room in the home. The home is wonderfully stocked with great amenities. The neighborhood provides solitude but is close to all shopping needs. It is a short distance from Downtown and the 101. We would certainly love to return to Vista Del Oceano. We are still showing photos and telling all our friends what a great home away from home.

Great location on the Mesa Santa Barbara

This location was really an exciting home during our vacation in March 2014 - totally in accordance with the listing description. We enjoyed our stay from the first day on - we felt very well all the time. Everything is extraordinary good. Extremely good and unusual floor plan with exciting views from each single room: wake up with the view of the ocean and Channel Islands - even from the hot tub in the garden deck: the same - wine in the evening on the terrace looking on the Mesa - just great. Everything in the house was very clean - we missed nothing. Agent's service is outstanding. (e.g. battery of fire box empty: very fast replacement) 100 % recommendation to friends - like to return again anytime.

What You Should Know

What We love

  • Breathtaking ocean views from every room in the house
  • Incredible art and colorful surroundings
  • Quality and attention to detail throughout

What to know

  • This home is 3 levels with bedrooms on the first and third floor. All the interior and exterior steps make this property unsuitable for handicapped and elderly guests.
  • There is some construction on this street, making on-street parking scarce during the day. The garage will fit two small vehicles, and the steep driveway can be tricky for maneuvering in and out.
  • Like most homes in Santa Barbara, it doesn't have A/C.

What to expect after booking

  • You'll receive a confirmation email shortly after booking.
  • If you've booked more than 60 days prior to your arrival date, we'll send you an email requesting your final payment as that date gets closer.
  • Once you're paid in full, we'll send you an email with the check-in information for your stay, including property access and who to call in case of a problem.

The Particulars

Check-in is at 4:00pm & CHECK-OUT 11:00am

We’re always happy to make you happy. In some cases, it may be possible to grant an earlier check-in or later check-out depending on the booking and maintenance schedule. However, early check-in and late check-outs cannot be guaranteed until 24 hours prior to check-in or check-out date. Please “check-in” with our team for further details.

Cancellation Policy

  • Hit the "Book Now" button a bit too soon? No worries. We offer a 24-hour grace period where any reservation made is eligible for a full refund. Hey, it happens.

  • Your initial payment is 50% of the total, with the remaining balance due 60 days out from checkin. After the 24 hour grace period, all payments become non-refundable.

  • We encourage you to double check everything before you book to make sure you've selected that perfect home, at the ideal time. And while we're on the subject of peace of mind, ask us about our travel insurance package. It's just another amenity we offer to make booking your stay as relaxing as possible.

Santa Barbara Travel Guide
December 11, 2016 The city calls itself the American Riviera, and if you travel to Santa Barbara you'll see why: This central coast city, which sits on an idyllic stretch of coastline and is sheltered by the foothills of the Santa Ynez mountains, has a ...Mediterranean-like climate and a civility that feels downright European. In fact, it once was European: the Spanish settled the city in the 1600s, and the Mission Santa Barbara is still one of the city's most treasured landmarks. Given the city's sophisticated charm—and high prices—many celebrities have made a Santa Barbara visit over the years, from Charlie Chaplin, who built a hotel, to Oprah Winfrey, who has a house nearby.
