The Ritz-Carlton Vail is located in Lionshead Village—one of three main villages right at the base of the ski area. Both the Eagle Bahn and Born Free express gondolas leave from the village to connect you with the entire mountain, and when you're done for the day, some of Vail's best apres-ski spots are steps away. The village was inspired by the European ski villages of the Alps and is pedestrian-only, making it excellent for strolling and windowshopping.
Just a 10-15 minute walk (or a short free shuttle ride away) is Vail Village, where many of the buildings are original from the 1960s to preserve the village's small-town vibe. While Lionshead has plenty of dining options, Vail Village has some of the area's best restaurants, including Matsuhisa, Sweet Basil, and Flame.
On the east side of Vail Village sits Golden Peak, which is a family favorite thanks to the Golden Peak Ski School and Vail Child Care and Nursey facilities. It's also at the base of the Riva Bahn Express Lift, which services the Golden Peak Terrain Park. If you're headed to Vail to watch the Burton U.S. Open, Golden Peak lodging has best location for viewing.
