Best Restaurants in Park City: The First Michelin Picks

Park City has always eaten well. Now the rest of the world has a reason to notice. In late August 2026, the Michelin Guide revealed its first Southwest selection, covering Arizona, Nevada, New Mexico and Utah, and three Park City restaurants made the list.

Each of the three has its own character, and they sit among plenty of other Park City tables well worth booking while you're in town. For a ski week or a summer stay, they're a wonderful place to start your dinner plans.

What the Michelin Guide Named in Park City

Michelin first announced in December 2025 that Utah's Wasatch region would join the new Southwest guide. Inspectors then visited anonymously, and the first selection was revealed at a ceremony in Las Vegas.

Nine Utah restaurants appear in the Michelin Guide's Utah listings. Three of them are in Park City, and all three earned the Recommended distinction:

Handle
A seasonal American kitchen on Heber Avenue, run by chef and owner Briar Handly.

Matilda
Sourdough pizza and shared plates in the Snow Creek area.

The Nelson Cottage by High West
A prix fixe dinner with optional whiskey pairings, just off Park Avenue.

Utah's only star in this first edition went to Monte, down the canyon in South Salt Lake.

Michelin's selection has several tiers. Stars mark cooking the inspectors consider exceptional. The Bib Gourmand flags very good food at a moderate price. Recommended restaurants, which the guide's website labels "Selected Restaurants," are places the inspectors found worth a visit for good cooking.

Every restaurant in the guide has been visited anonymously and chosen by Michelin's own inspectors. Three selections in the very first edition is a wonderful showing for Park City.

Handle

Handle sits at 136 Heber Avenue, Suite 107, in the Gateway Center at the bottom of Main Street. Chef Briar Handly has been cooking here for more than a decade, and his menu changes with the seasons, built around local and regional ingredients.

The Michelin inspectors describe Handle as lively and upbeat, with seating close enough that the room hums. They point to seasonal, refined comfort food: dishes like beef cheek bourguignon and house-made pasta, followed by a tres leches cake with Thai tea ice cream. The menu moves with the seasons, so expect those specifics to change.

It works well for a group dinner or a night out for two. Handle opens daily at 5 p.m. You can reserve through Resy from Handle's website or call the restaurant at 435-602-1155.

Matilda

Matilda comes from the team behind Five5eeds, and it sits right next door at 1600 Snow Creek Drive, a short drive from Old Town. It's the most relaxed of the three Michelin picks, with tall ceilings and an open kitchen you can watch from your table.

The pizza is the reason to come. Matilda's dough is naturally leavened sourdough, baked in a wood-fired oven, and the Michelin listing calls the pizzas the highlight. The inspectors single out the Calabrese salami pizza with whipped ricotta and hot honey, and they suggest saving room for the sticky date pudding.

Matilda is open seven nights a week from 5 p.m. Reserve through Resy on Matilda's website, or walk in and try your luck. It's an easy choice for families and for the first night of a trip, when everyone has just arrived and wants something warm and simple.

The Nelson Cottage by High West

The Nelson Cottage is the most distinctive dinner of the three. High West, which Michelin notes was Utah's first legal distillery since Prohibition, hosts a prix fixe dinner at 651 Park Avenue, just steps from its saloon.

The evening opens with a guided whiskey session led by a High West Whiskey Ambassador, which walks you through tasting and the history of whiskey in Park City. Dinner follows in the cottage, with every guest served each course at the same time. The chefs redesign the menu every few weeks, and whiskey pairings for each course are optional. Past dishes on the Michelin listing include gnocchi with elk ragu and black cod with ramps.

A few practical details from High West's Nelson Cottage page, as listed in October 2026:

  • Seatings
    5 p.m. and 8 p.m., Wednesday through Sunday.

  • Price
$110 per guest for dinner, with whiskey pairings starting at $60 per guest.

  • Booking
Reservations open 30 days ahead on Tock and require a credit card. Changes or cancellations within 24 hours carry a $50 per-person fee.

  • Age
Guests must be 21 or older.

Seating is limited and the menu is fixed, so book as soon as your dates are set. If anyone in your party has allergies or dietary needs, contact the restaurant before you arrive.

More Park City Restaurants Worth Booking

The Michelin list is a wonderful starting point, though it's only the first edition. Park City has plenty of other kitchens that locals and returning visitors love. These are a few with strong reputations and clear booking details.

Riverhorse on Main

Riverhorse on Main is one of the best-known dining rooms on Main Street, and its own site notes 16 years of Forbes Travel Guide Four Star awards. The eclectic American menu changes with the seasons, and the patio overlooks Main Street. You'll find it at 540 Main Street. Dinner starts at 5 p.m. nightly, and Riverhorse recommends reservations, which you can make online for parties of up to six.

Firewood

At Firewood, 306 Main Street, everything is cooked over a wood fire. Chef John Murcko's menu changes nightly with what's freshest, so no two visits are quite the same. Firewood serves dinner Tuesday through Saturday from 5 p.m. Book through Resy or by phone, and note the policy: cancellations within 48 hours carry a charge per guest.

High West Saloon

If the Nelson Cottage is booked, the High West Saloon at 703 Park Avenue is a relaxed way to taste the distillery's whiskeys alongside mountain-inspired food. It's open 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily, seating is first come, first served, and it's 21 and over.

Five5eeds

For breakfast and lunch, Five5eeds at 1600 Snow Creek Drive draws on Australian cafe culture, with serious coffee and a menu built on local, seasonal produce. It serves from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Check the current days before you go, especially outside ski season.

Utah's Michelin Star: Monte

If you'd like to try Utah's only starred restaurant, it's down the canyon in South Salt Lake. Monte earned one Michelin star in the first Southwest edition, the only star the guide awarded outside Las Vegas. It's an intimate tasting-menu restaurant inside Beehive Distilling, cooking with foraged and locally sourced ingredients. Reservations are required and limited, and the restaurant does not offer substitutions, so plan ahead and share any needs early.

Dining in Deer Valley

Deer Valley has its own dining scene, shaped by the resort's long standard of excellence, and many of the area's most memorable meals are served on its mountain. Our guide to the best restaurants in Deer Valley covers Fireside Dining, Glitretind at Stein Eriksen Lodge and the rest of the mountain's tables.

Tips for Booking Dinner in Park City

Several of these dining rooms are small, and a little planning makes your evenings easy.

Book the Nelson Cottage as soon as its 30-day window opens for your dates, since seatings are limited and it runs only five nights a week. Reserve Handle, Riverhorse and Firewood once your trip is confirmed, especially for weekends and holiday weeks. Matilda and the High West Saloon are your flexible options for a night when plans change.

Best Restaurants in Park City: FAQ

Does Park City Have Michelin Stars?

Not yet. In the first Michelin Guide Southwest, three Park City restaurants earned the Recommended distinction: Handle, Matilda and The Nelson Cottage by High West. Utah's only star went to Monte in South Salt Lake.

Is Deer Valley in the Guide?

Deer Valley's restaurants are some of the most celebrated in the region, though the guide's first Utah listings cover Park City and the Salt Lake area only, and our Deer Valley dining guide covers them in detail.

How Far Ahead Should I Book?

It depends on the restaurant. The Nelson Cottage opens reservations 30 days in advance and has limited seatings, so book as soon as your window opens. For other popular dining rooms, reserve once your dates are set, particularly for holiday weeks and peak ski season.

What Does Recommended Mean?

It means Michelin's anonymous inspectors visited and chose the restaurant for the guide for its good cooking. It's a separate tier from Michelin stars and the Bib Gourmand.
