Do you hear that sound? July 4th in Telluride begins with a literal bang! You’ll hear the boom of a cannon resonating throughout the box canyon at 6 AM to officially announce the holiday has begun. Let’s get this party started!

Challenge your sense of spirit and stamina with Telluride’s exhilarating uphill 4th of July Rundola race to the top of the San Sophia Ridge. Start running at the Oak Street Gondola Plaza in historic downtown Telluride, and ascend 1,790 vertical feet.

Once you reach the summit, you’ll enjoy an awe-inspiring panoramic sunrise like no other from an elevation of 10.540 feet at Sophia Station. The race ends at 9:30 AM.

After the Rundola race, bring your blankets and lawn chairs and scope out your spot to watch Telluride’s historic 4th of July parade. It’s a slice of pure classic Americana that’s wholesome fun for the entire family.

Get there by 10 AM for the best view from one of Colorado Avenue’s 2nd story loft balconies. The view from above is completely unobstructed, and second to none.

Telluride’s 4th of July parade is the longest running event in the town’s history. It begins with a fantastic 4th of July flyover, performed with precision by Colorado’s National Guard. The parade starts on Colorado Avenue at 11 AM, and moves east along Main Street toward Telluride’s Town Park.

Antique fire engines and a variety of whimsical floats will delight partygoers of all ages. Tell the kids to catch all the candy they can as the parade passes by.

Not a parade person? Bring the fam to the Mountain Village Center for fun games, face painting, bungee jumping, and live music. With plenty of fun for everyone, you’ll be entertained for hours.

After partying at the Telluride 4th of July parade, move to Telluride’s **Town Park **for a classic community BBQ, hosted by Telluride’s Volunteer Fire Department. Enjoy live local music at the Fred Shellman Memorial Stage while the kids tackle traditional games, like potato sack races and the Imagination Station playground.
