For those who like to play, this is where you stay in Santa Barbara. Centrally located in Mission Canyon, this 3-bedroom, 2-bath home is close to everything. Less than a 5-minute drive to Downtown and about the same distance to some of the best hiking trails around, all you’ll need to do is take a quick look at your backyard to know you’re right next to Rocky Nook Park as well. But that quick look will quickly turn into a longer one once you realize all the activities you now have at your feet.

Need to brush up on your putting? Head to your very own practice putting green. Looking for something a little more competitive? Challenge a family member to a game of horseshoes or darts. Rock climbing enthusiasts will especially enjoy the climbing wall that ironically sits in the rock garden. And for those who truly believe vacation is spectator sport, there’s plenty of seating all around this backyard playground. We recommend lighting a fire in the fire pit, and just listening to the laughter and the wind chimes soundtrack what is sure to be a most relaxing evening.

Inside, quirky is king. And the loft-style design provides the ideal backdrop for this communal-like living space. Open and airy, it’s difficult to not picture your entire family gathering around the piano to sing a few tunes. Get the fire going here as well on any given evening, and turn those tunes into campfire songs. We bet even the moodiest teenager will succumb to the fun and start singing along.

The home is great for one family or two (as the guestroom with the two twin beds has two trundles as well). Just a little word of caution, however. It may not be the safest home for families with toddlers. Between the outdoor rocks, the open flames of the fireplace, and (beautiful) spiral staircase, there are some potential hazards for little ones. But for those families with older kids, Rocky Nook Escape is where you can turn to set that little kid free once again.

Santa Barbara Family Weekend

We were in Santa Barbara for a long weekend summer break. We were looking for a place to relax and enjoy some family time. This house lived up to our expectations. The house was clean and tidy, the rooms were sizable and entertaining and it fit our family of 4 beautifully. The description and photographs are accurate but they don't begin to describe the cool unique layout and contents. The house was a delightful place to stay. Overall the house met all our expectations. The location is convenient, no more than a 5 minute drive, to downtown SB, Whole Foods, the beach and some great restaurants. There is easy access and plenty of parking. The management company was responsive and well organized. We had a great time and would recommend the house to anyone else travelling to the area.

Santa Barbara Travel Guide
December 11, 2016 The city calls itself the American Riviera, and if you travel to Santa Barbara you'll see why: This central coast city, which sits on an idyllic stretch of coastline and is sheltered by the foothills of the Santa Ynez mountains, has a ...Mediterranean-like climate and a civility that feels downright European. In fact, it once was European: the Spanish settled the city in the 1600s, and the Mission Santa Barbara is still one of the city's most treasured landmarks.
