Tucked away on a remote Telluride hillside lies a beautiful, Basque-influenced home that will greatly influence your family’s views on what an ideal vacation can be. As part of the prestigious Aldasoro Ranch community, this 4-bedroom, 4.5 bath retreat may be a little off the beaten path in Telluride. But guests tend to agree that it is definitely on point when it comes to extra amenities and luxuries.

And just what are those extras, you ask? Let’s begin by telling you of the amazing, sweeping views. Because the home is situated on the side of a hill about a 10-minute drive from both Mountain Village and The Town, nature is the star of the show as you rest leisurely on any of your patios or decks. But if sweeping views of the ski slopes and bright white birches isn’t your thing, there’s plenty of ways to relax from within. That notion quickly becomes apparent when you stumble upon your very own spa, complete with a jetted soaking tub and coal-fired sauna to help you waste the day away after a long day on the trails. Those looking to combine the best of both these luxuries should look no further than the outdoor hot tub, nestled quietly in a backyard nook.

For more communal activities, Villa Mendia has you covered there too. The decorative dining room can comfortably seat eight, while the ornate grand room just below can probably fit eight more. And that’s not counting those members of your crew that are watching a flick in the media room, catching up on some work in the office, or huddled by one of the fireplaces. Speaking of which, you have one in your spacious kitchen too. Kids will just love making s’mores after a chilly day on the slopes. Just make sure they save room during dinner, because your modern cooking appliances in the old world feeling kitchen will inspire you to make some of your best meals to date. Of course, all these recreational activities will eventually lead to the need of a good night’s sleep. And with beds of all shapes and sizes spread across the estate in individually rustic rooms with a view, your view of a Telluride vacation will take on a whole meaning. And by that, we mean perfection.

Magnificent!

This magnificent house perched on a hillside is truly extraordinary! Every room is beautifully appointed and fully stocked with everything you might need for your stay. The rooms are all spacious with high ceilings and there are many cozy places to cuddle up with a book and a glass of wine. There is ample space for simply hanging out with your family or fellow travelers and a gorgeous kitchen with every gadget you can imagine. The beds are really comfortable and the towels are all plush and luxurious. The surroundings are incredible, with views from every window, and glimpses of elk and other wildlife all around. The location was perfect, just minutes from town and the ski village. We've stayed in many nice places, but this one blew our socks off!

Spring Skiing in Colorado
With 28 world-class resorts, Colorado is arguably the epicenter of North American ski culture. And spring is quite possibly the best time of year to ski these majestic mountains. The high elevation often brings “blue bird” conditions in ...the months of March and April. Complete with sunny, blue skies that make spring skiing so enjoyable – it’s a unique treat that Coloradans cherish. The best part? You typically don’t have to sacrifice excellent snow conditions to enjoy the milder weather. March and April are often the heaviest months for Colorado snowfall, so you’re equally likely to be cruising through fresh powder as you are to be getting a suntan. Now how’s that for a two-for-one? 36 Hours in Telluride, Colorado
October 28, 2016 There are steeper ski resorts than Telluride. There are ski resorts that get more snow. But few places are more friendly and prettier than this town at the end of a box canyon in the tall San Juan Mountains, a place so cinematic that Quentin ...Tarantino was here last winter filming his forthcoming western, “The Hateful Eight.” Beauty and great skiing keep pulling the money here, and that keeps refreshing the scene. But it’s the people who make this place interesting — a quirky stew of Patagonia-clad men who look as if they came straight from base camp; flushed women direct from their 10-mile runs; still others reciting poetry in bordello-wear at a Colorado Avenue bar; and gray-ponytailed hippies who play “Sugar Magnolia” so often you’d think Jerry Garcia never went to that great jam fest in the sky. Telluride isn’t just a ski area; it’s a way of life. (see less)
