For Greater Getaways.
The InvitedHome Vision
We started InvitedHome because vacation homes with consistent standards and responsive guest services just didn't exist. We've changed that. Each member of our close-knit team brings years (and often decades) of industry-related experience to the table – providing peace of mind for our guests and homeowners alike. Our mission is to provide priceless memories for groups of friends and families. We’re not just a property manager or a vacation rental marketplace. We’re a hospitality company. And that makes all the difference. From ensuring the consistency of our cleaning & maintenance services and offering 24/7 guest services wherever you stay, to meticulously hand-picking all of our homes so that each and every one meets our high-quality standards, we’re focused on what truly matters: creating unforgettable moments for you and your loved ones.
- Michael Joseph
- CEO & CO-FOUNDER
As the CEO, Michael is responsible not only for building the business, but also our talented, nationwide team. Previously, Michael was the owner of three successful vacation rental businesses: More Road Properties, Vacation Rentals of Lake Tahoe, and finally Vacation Rental Partner, the TechStars project that eventually evolved into InvitedHome. He also worked as a Motorcycle Engineer for Honda R&D after completing his degree at Brown University. Michael’s favorite traveling moment is proposing to his wife on a trip to the top of Cadillac Mountain in Acadia National Park after their incredible bike ride through coastal Maine. So, you can’t be too surprised that he’s high on vacations.
- Tom Feldhusen
- CPO & Co-Founder
Tom is technically the head of our product team. But the truth is, he wears many hats at InvitedHome, including: UI & UX design, website quality assurance and project management for software development. Rumor has it he’s been spotted doing dishes on weekends, too. Tom joined forces with Michael in 2010 to found Vacation Rental Partner as part of the TechStars program in Boulder. Before InvitedHome, he worked as an art director and designer at several ad agencies in the Boston area, and studied advertising & design at the University of Maine, Orono. His favorite vacation memory is sipping his morning coffee on the edge of the Santorini caldera in Greece, just enjoying the view that had no computers in sight.
- James Smith
As the CFO, James handles financial planning & analysis, budgets & forecasts, accounting, legal, HR and raising capital. We are currently trying to find something more to add to his plate. In addition to his duties at InvitedHome, James also serves on the Board of Directors at Wyldfire and Social Ventures for Sustainability. Previously, James was the CFO at MOGL and the Co-Founder & CFO at Restaurant Revolution Technologies. He also worked in Regional Finance at Westfield and in the Audit department at Ernst & Young. James studied at the University of Queensland Australia and the Securities Institute of Australia. His favorite vacation moments are whenever he visits his native New Zealand or the world-class slopes in Colorado or Tahoe. Okay, he’s pretty happy in any ski town.
- Chris Sewell
- VP Of Operations
Chris is the VP of Operations, responsible for tactical management and operational oversight to help ensure the best possible experience for both guests and homeowners alike. He leads and develops our passionate operations teams in every destination to provide the Best. Vacation. Ever. for every guest who stays with us. Prior to InvitedHome, Chris co-founded the Xenios Advisory Group, served as the Regional Director of Operations for Exclusive Resorts in the Western U.S., Hawaii & Canada, and worked at the Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts in Atlanta, Las Vegas and St. Louis. He received his education from Auburn University. Chris’ favorite vacation memory is introducing his son to the beach and the ocean on the Kohala Coast while on a family vacation to the Big Island of Hawaii. And the beach has been one of his best friends ever since.
Vacations Are Essential To The Soul. Treat People Like Humans. Always Stay Ahead Of The Competition.
Our ultimate goal is to be the undisputed leader in luxury vacation rentals. So we’ve adopted these three core values to meet that goal. These principles guide everything we do here at InvitedHome – and once you stay with us, you’ll see why they set us apart.
The InvitedHome Story
In 2008, our CEO Michael Joseph started a small vacation rental management service in his then-home of South Lake Tahoe. Why? Because he himself was a vacation rental property owner – and he saw firsthand that there was a need for real innovation in the space. In 2010, Michael teamed up with Co-Founder Tom Feldhusen to create a software product that could manage the needs of vacation rental owners. With the invaluable help of the TechStars program in Boulder, they started Vacation Rental Partner (VRP) and their vision began to be realized. As such, their revolutionary software not only changed the way vacation properties could be managed, but also provided a superior experience for both homeowners and guests. By 2011, VRP had become a full-blown virtual rental management company, offering homes in Lake Tahoe to guests around the world. But something was missing. They knew it was crucial to help ensure the quality, cleanliness, and functionality of every home, for every stay. They decided that consistency should be crowned king. So, in 2013, InvitedHome was born. Today, we’re one of nation’s most highly reputed vacation home rental companies, landing at #28 on Inc. 5000’s list of fastest growing private U.S. companies. But we’re not content resting on our laurels. There’s so much more to accomplish. From helping guests find the perfect home to providing complete, on-the-ground services and maintenance for our owners, InvitedHome has revolutionized the entire vacation rental process. And we remain committed to bringing our ever-expanding portfolio of homes in some of the most enviable resort destinations well into the future.
