James A. Smith is CEO of InvitedHome, the ultra-luxury ski and mountain vacation rental platform within Oakview Group’s destination travel portfolio. InvitedHome cares for roughly 200 private residences and more than $1.8 billion in assets across ten of North America’s most coveted ski and mountain destinations: Telluride, Aspen, Vail, Beaver Creek and Breckenridge in Colorado; Park City, Deer Valley and Alta in Utah; Jackson Hole; and Whistler, British Columbia, where the “Invisible Affluent” spend their winters.

His career in mountain hospitality began in 2003 as a bellman and concierge in Aspen, followed by  the start of more than two decades inside the highest tier of Rocky Mountain hospitality. He joined InvitedHome in 2014 as CFO and COO and became CEO in 2018, the year he divested the company’s beach markets to focus exclusively on ski. As CFO and member of the executive team, he helped steer the company onto the Inc. 5000 at #28 fastest-growing in America and #1 in Travel (2015). Today InvitedHome is the operator of record for $10M+ private ski villas, ski-in/ski-out residences and multi-generational mountain homes.
