Lake Tahoe Golf Guide

Lake Tahoe is an alluring year-round destination that offers some of the finest winter fun and sun-soaked getaways in the world. But Lake Tahoe is also an epic destination for golf. Here, you’ll discover world-class, PGA-worthy courses designed by some of the most renowned golfers on earth. However, like others who enjoy time on the greens, understanding the Lake Tahoe golf scene is crucial if you’re serious about your game.

In this Lake Tahoe golf guide, you’ll discover a variety of courses, located in and around the Tahoe area. No matter what skill level you might be, you’ll find a course here in Tahoe that’s suitable to your game. Whether it’s a golf course in South Lake Tahoe, North Lake Tahoe, or somewhere in Truckee, you’ll likely find one nearby wherever it is that you plan to stay on your next Tahoe getaway.

As you plan out your stay, it’s important to note that the golf courses in Tahoe are mainly closed in the winter. That’s especially true because many of the best courses are located in North Lake Tahoe, a place known for more of its upscale cabins and resort-filled peaks. In fact, some Tahoe golf courses become snowmobile parks in the winter.

Considering that a large majority of these courses are in the upper echelons of elevations (remember, Lake Tahoe sits at an elevation of 6,223 feet), they most often get blanketed with snow in the winter. So, if you’re planning a getaway that includes golf, be sure to plan for the spring and summer months (May through October). And if you’re truly serious about golfing, opt for a stay in North Lake Tahoe, where you’ll be surrounded by some of the best golf courses that the area has to offer.
